Hi,

Rablo Games is currently working on a video game for PC called Lost Spirits of Kael, and need a talented programmer to help realize it.

About the project :

Lost Spirits of Kael is an independant 2D action-RPG videogame with emphasis put on ambiance. Lost in a mysterious misty forest, you'll have to find your way back home.
Graphics will be stylized to be looking like painted sketches, so ambiance and colors will prevail over details. I want the game to have an "artistic" feel, as well in graphics, than music (solo piano, harp, other small ensembles mixed with synthesizers) and scenario.

The game tells the story of a painter that has lost inspiration for many month, and decide to go looking for it in the old Forest of Kael, despite the numerous strange legends speaking about this place. While wandering, he hears the sound of an harp, and decide to figure out who's playing. He then meets a mysterious and beautiful harpist. When she finishes playing, the forest becomes shrouded in fog while mysterious ghosts and creatures have appeared. The painter will have to find his way through the forest, and discover what really happened.

The game will feature very few dialogues and probably no cut scenes at all. The player will discover the story through gameplay. Note that I want the game to be hard.
If I should name 2 games that inspired Lost Spirits of Kael, I'd say Dark Souls and Shadow of the Colossus.

Lost Spirits of Kael is under development since around 4 months, meanning a lot of work has already been done.
The main character animations are 70% finished (around 330 single artworks have been created for him). The backgrounds still need some work as about 40 screens have been drawn.
There’s around 20 minutes of music written so far.
The game design document is nearly finished, with really precise informations for the programmer. It is 20 pages long, and this do not include maps and dialogues. All game mechanics are finished of course.

You can see some screenshots and other info on the game's website : http://rablogames.wordpress.com
I'll handle the graphics, music and game design myself, as I'm currently alone in Rablo Games' "offices".

About me :

I'm 32 years old, graduated since 2003 in CG arts from a visual art high school which includes courses in animation, drawing, storyboard, scenario, etc.
I'm a professional graphic designer, working since 8 years in a world-famous studio in Belgium (the Smurfs). Even though I don't really work as an illustrator, I'm doing such things as colorings, drawings modifications, graphical approbations, ...
I'm also a semi-professional music composer, actually the composer of the Smurfs studio. I've done all the music for the Smurfs' flashgames that are palyable on the website www.smurf.com , as well as music for other videogames projects. I also make remixes for OCremix.org. You can listen to some of my compositions on this website :

Who am I looking for :

One (or possibly two) talented programmer, experimented if possible (please link to examples of your works if you have some). At the very least, you should be absolutely sure to be able to complete this project (no beginners) and to be available for at least one year, until the end of the development. It is a solo game, so no network skills are required.

The idea is to give ourselves short milestones every weeks, so please make sure you don't have other projects running, and have a good bunch of hours every week to work on the project.

I'm not rich, but in the meantime I want you to feel sure about your work being rewarded, so we can discuss about milestones' delays and payment. In addition you will of course get a percentage when the game releases.

Please send me an email to rablogames@gmail.com if you feel motivated about this project and you think you can handle the job. Of course I'll give you more details on the game by email.
You can also follow the game's Twitter : @rablogames

Thanks for your time and interest !
