need advice

hi guyz .i want to know where can i begin to learn about game programming using c++ ..currently i am comfortable with the basics of c++ like inheritance,pointers etc . i am comfortable in using turbo c++ and somewhat visual c++ and have created some basic programs like vs computer tic tac toe . but in it i used the turbo c standard graphics library . so what can i do to include sprites , images etc ?? .. should i use an engine like dark gdk ?? i have heard it is good for learning.
